Chief Lutz presented FF James Turek with a helmet and Resolution #12-041 for completing 30 years of service with the Madison Fire District.  Congratulation, Jim!

COMMITTEE REPORTS:                                                                                    

New Building Committee:

Tim Bement of App Architecture attended the meeting via video conference and he and Chief Lutz outlined the progress of the new station.   Seitz submitted a construction schedule on October 17th which Tim will review immediately.

1)  There will be a construction meeting every Wednesday at 1330 hrs.

2)  All building permits (zoning) should be completed by Monday, October 22, 2012.

3)  The land has been cleared and the top soil has been removed.

4)  The next phase will be the retaining wall and base build-up.

5)  By board consensus, the groundbreaking ceremony will be November 14th @ 4:00 pm.

6)  Both Chief Lutz and Mr. Bement complimented Seitz Builders on their organizational skills and commended them for having all the required paperwork completed in a timely manner.

7)   The block work for the station is due to be completed by late December followed by the structural steel which is not weather sensitive.

CHIEF’S REPORT – Chief Gene Lutz:                                                       

1)  Chief Lutz reported that the new squad is due the week of October 22, 2012.

2)  Chief Lutz requested an executive session following the regular meeting to discuss personnel matters.

3)  Madison Fire District recently responded to a 5 alarm fire in Painesville Township.   Squads were sent to cover the Painesville Twp. station and Engine 2113 stayed overnight on scene.

4)  Per Lutz, all current officers are completing Blue Card Training in Concord.

5)  A Part Time Negotiation meeting will be held on October 18th with an anticipated sign off by the November 17th board meeting.

6)  Chief reported that Orwell Gas has permit to run gas lines under Rt. 90 to the new station.

Mr. Takacs thanked the board for their support in completing the Chief’s Annual Evaluation.  He complimented Chief Lutz on achieving the goals and objectives desired by the board.  Chief Lutz called the evaluation a good tool and thanked the board for their support.

Mr. Takacs reminded everyone of the November 14th groundbreaking ceremony and the November 21st Fire Board meeting.
