Established in 1970, the Madison Fire District operates under the governance of a Fire Board. This board consists of three representatives from the Madison Village Council and three representatives from the Madison Township Trustees. To ensure balanced leadership, the Board annually selects a new Chairman through a nomination and roll call process. This position alternates each year between a member of the Village and a member of the Council.
The Fire Board is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of the District’s operations. Its responsibilities encompass the establishment of governing policies, the approval of annual budgets and financial decisions, and the assurance of the provision of essential services. Furthermore, the Board addresses the needs and concerns of both the township and village residents, with the primary goal of maintaining the fire district’s efficient and effective operation. These responsibilities are carried out with due regard for the District’s history and its focus on the community.
The Fire Board meets on the Third (3rd) Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. All meetings are held at Station #3 unless otherwise specified and are also available for viewing online via The District’s YouTube Channel.
