Home Safety Checklist

Smoke Alarms: Install them on every level, inside and outside sleeping areas, test monthly, and replace every 10 years.

Cooking Safety: Keep the cooking area clear, don’t leave cooking unattended, and clean the stove hood.

Electrical & Appliance Safety: Check cords for damage, use appliances plugged directly into wall outlets, and avoid overloading outlets.

Heating Safety: Have chimneys and furnaces inspected annually and keep flammable items away from heaters.

Open Burning

Please review websites below before burning anything at your home or business. Very small recreational fires for heating and cooking are generally okay but burning yard waste, construction materials or garbage is not! Plan Submittal

The Madison Fire District will accept plans for all job types within our jurisdiction during business hours from 8am to 430pm Monday through Friday unless special arrangements have already been made.
